And read some thoughts from
our own APEMASTER.

We are still building these pages.  There's  a bundle of great photos from the party as well video clips that we would like to post and share with fans.

Many of you have asked if you can contact Mr. Chambers.
Alas, we have lost our beloved Planet of the Apes make-up creator and dear friend.
He passed away on Saturday, August 25th, 2001 at age 79.

He loved getting mail and (thanks to the video tape of his 75th b-day party)
he'd been getting mail from old and new fans from all over the world.

It has been requested that instead of sending flowers  that fans make a
 Donation to the MPTF
in John's name. (click on the link to get details)

You can send condolences to his wife at the following address:

Virgie "Joan" Chambers
23388 Mulhulland Drive
Lodge Room 429
Woodland Hills, Calif. 91364-2733

Click on the Visionary Cinema link if you're interested in buying the VHS tape of the event.
Planet of the Apes fans the world over owe a great deal of praise and respect to Mr. Chambers and his inovating make-up designs for the Planet of the Apes film saga.  In 1968, he was awarded a special Academy Award for his work on Planet of the Apes, an incredible honor being that the Academy had only given out one other Oscar to make-up at that point in history.  Make-up did not become an Oscar catagory until 1980, some 12 years later.
