One our most popular mannequin requests from fans and collectors.

This was the first CORNELIUS mannequin we ever did back in the late 1990's.

We have come quite a long way since then.  Check out or latest CORNELIUS display.

Since delivering the mannequin pictured here, we have received such incredible reactions,
both through e-mail and from people fortunate enough to view this showpiece
in person,  we may just let the viewers and the owner's words
do the talking for us.  So stay tuned...

In the meantime, here's some of the technical mumbo-jumbo:

This life-size display was created for a collector who owns several original
Planet of the Apes costumes.  Although not an original Roddy McDowall costume, this outfit consists of Wright King's (Dr. Galen: 1st Film) pants, Sal Mineo's (Dr. Milo: "Escape") brown undershirt, a generic tunic, and generic shoes.  The leather "glyphs" on the chest are the only costume replication we provided for this wardrobe.
Check out Apemania's COSTUME pages for our authentic wardrobe replications.

The details and likeness of the face were painstakingly researched using what seemed like a ton of photo reference as well as original Roddy McDowall prosthetics (graciously loaned to the APEMANIA studio by another collector) and castings of original Cornelius prosthetics as reference.   Yes, believe it or not, some of the original pieces used in the films and tv shows still exist, complete with left over spirit-gum crusties and all!  It was quite exhilarating to have a set of prosthetics worn by Roddy McDowall on hand during the sculpting of the face for this assignment.  We actually were almost finished with the sculpture, when the original pieces came into our care, but they certainly came in handy with the detailing.  It was also inspiring to see the paint scheme and technique used for Mr. McDowall's make-up.  Quite different (more detailed) than some of the other original pieces we have seen.

Once the sculpture was finished and molded, the piece was cast in an flesh colored acrylic resin (for longevity).  Medical grade prosthetic  glass eyes were added as well as a few other surprises you can catch in the CLOSE-UP pages.

The hair is a mix of human and yak, and... OH!  By the way, the hands are castings of the client's ACTUAL hands,  which really adds a personal and unique touch
to the piece.  Like a proud parent, we are sure the owner proudly boasts about the hands being his own every time he shows the display to a new visitor.

Rounding out the display is the custom granite display stand and personalized bronze plaque.

And yes, this one was hard to say good-bye too when it came time to install it at it's new and permanent home.

UPDATE:  This mannequin now resides at the Pop Culture Museum in Seattle, Washington along with our original Dr. Zaius mannequin.
